Can i change my mind about selling my car?

I put my car up for sale on the internet and got a few responses. One person has come and had a look at it and said they will take it and pay me cash in a few days. The only problem is the bank where i applied for my loan (for a new car) has taken a while to give a definate yes or no answer of approval. When i applied, they said yes, and even offered me more money than i asked for. My question is, now that the sale of my car is organised, can i change my mind about selling it? What would happen if i did?

If they did not take possession of the vehicle, then you can change your mind. If you received money down, you must pay that back to the seller. The law is the same if you are buying a new car. You can back out until you take delivery. I hope this helps, and good luck.

Nothing, you have no obligation. There is no law unless you sign a contract to sell. You may not make the person happy, but most people will understand if other things happen. Tlk to them now, and return any money if they gave it to you. An automotive sale by owner is not final until the title trades hands!

Did you exchange any money with the would be buyer? If you have not taken a deposit with an agreement on a price, you haven't sold anything.

Just call the person you are referring to and tell him you changed your mind - if they didn't give you a deposit they have no right to complain.

You are not obligated to sell to them. Just call them and explain what happened and say thanks.
