I need money to do this thing, would it be rude to ask my grandma for it?

it's for educational purposes, but not college or anything like that, my parents don't have enough money to pay for it (i need $250)

i want to ask my grandma to loan me the money but i know my parents dont want me to. my younger brother asked for a loan from her and he never paid her back, so my parents think im going to do the same thing.

should i ask her for the loan or not? i dont like borrowing money from people but i really want to do this. should i go against my parents and ask her for the money or no?

im in the process of getting a job, i've applied at over 30 different places and have been looking for about a month and a half, i can't wait until i get a job because i already registered for it. i was sure i was going to have a job by now.

Don't know why, but the phrase 'educational purposes' sets off an alarm.

It's not college or anything like that.....sooooooooooo. Exactly what is it?

I'm wondering if your parents don't want you to ask for the money because of what the money will be used for. Maybe they feel if you want that $250 bad enough, then work for it.....not borrow it.

anybody else hear those alarm bells ringing???

EDITED to ADD:

Ah I see. Since when did a trip to Cicago become %26quot;educational%26quot;? You want to go and your parents don't want you to. No wonder I heard alarm bells!

Another question of yours:

%26quot;%26quot;

I want to go to chicago but my parents dont want me to. I'll have to borrow money from my grandma, but my parents dont want me to.

if i dont get to chicago, it'll prove that my parents have control over me no matter what age i am, im 19 btw. if i dont go to chicago i'm going to stay here unhappy still under my parents control.

If your brother did that to her then you should write up a contract and sign it.

Make sure it says when you borrowed the money, when you will pay it off, and what it will be used for.

Make it as official as possible so that there is no way that you could deny it later.

Go for it, the worst she can say is no!

No you should not go against your parents wishes and ask your grandmother. You have to learn to go without what you and your parents cannot afford. Reapply when you have the money or see if you can defer.

If you honestly plan on paying her back do both of you a favor and sign a written contract. I'm not doubting you or anything, but then your parents might not be against you borrowing the money.

Don't ask, because $250 isn't worth the grief this will cause. Sell something, go without, get a payday advance, don't do this.

You should reassure your family that you won't stiff your grandmother by giving your word sincerely. Work out a payment plan so that you are giving your grandmother something every paycheck. This will show her that you are trustworthy and you never know if you'll need to borrow from her again.

Try to remind your parents that you are not your brother and that they should not compare the two of you. If you have always been a responsible person, they should accept that you will repay the loan. Write out a plan for repayment and show it to your parents so that they can see that you have thought it out completely. Then ask you grandparents for the loan. I am a grandparent and if one of my grandchildren asked for help, I would give it gladly as long as I could afford it. Good Luck

no disrespect but if your struggling to get a job now how are you going to pay her back?

if the money is for educational purposes and your not working maybe you could apply for some kind of grant from the state

Don't go against your parents wishes!!!!! Maybe you could make some deal with your parents...........you will do extra work around the house or get a job, babysitting, etc. When you make money see if your parents will match what you will make. They may go for that; seeing you are trying to earn money on your own.

Talk to your parents again. You're not your brother and you shouldn't lose this opportunity. If your grandma has the means, I'm sure she'll lend you the money. Grandmas are incredible
